Jade Leyva was born in Mexico City on June 18, 1976. into a family of artists. Through her mother she learned much about Mexican Art and the ancient cultural ways of the Aztec, Toltec, Olmec and Mayan people.

From age 16 to 21, she was fortunate enough to work for the famous Samarkanda Gallery in Mexico City where so many great Mexican artists such as Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, David Siqueiros and Jose Orozco sold their works. Her job there was to catalog and photograph artwork. What luck…she learned volumes!

In 2000 Jade moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where she worked in a family-owned business. It was here that she met the well known potter, painter and art collector Bill Freeman. He is still her mentor and teacher to this day.

Jade's talents include painting, photography, pottery and mixed media. She specializes in ancient designs and images mixed with modern techniques. Jade Leyva is an artist to be watched. She's only just begun!
